STEVENSON — Dr. E.R. Knox, 82, of Stevenson died Friday at a Huntsville hospital. The funeral will be Monday at 2 p.m. at the Rudder Funeral Home in Stevenson with Revs. Charles Hughes and Frank Harmon officiating.
Burial will be in Stevenson City Cemetery.
Dr. Knox was the former president of Northeast Alabama State Community College, a U.S. Navy chaplain during World War II and pastor of the Meridianville Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
Dr. Knox had also served as a principal at Bridgeport High School, Guntersville High School and Marion County High School in Jasper, Tenn. He had also been a football coach at Guntersville High School and Marion County High School.
Dr. Knox was a member of the Stevenson Cumberland Presbyterian Church, the Stevenson Civic Club, the Bridgeport Lions Club and the Jackson County Chamber of Commerce.
Survivors include his wife, Pauline Danner Knox; one brother, Allen Luckey Knox Jr. of Montgomery; one niece and four nephews.
Visitation will be today from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Donations may be made to Stevenson Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
