William Henry Doss was born to Sarah Elizabeth Flowers and Joseph Eli Doss on August 17th, 1878 in Dallas County, Texas.

He appears in the 1900, Wise County, Texas, Census as a boarder in the Davis family household. He is noted as being single and working as a farm laborer.

He appears on the 1910, Wilbarger County, Texas Census with his parents and two of his brothers, Felix and Virgil.

His WWI Draft Card states that he was living in Tolbert, Wilbarger County, Texas. He is mentioned as being of medium build and height, with grey eyes and black hair. The portion of the document listing his eye color is somewhat illegible, and I encourage others to take a look at it and see if they think it may say that his eyes were of another color. A Mrs. Maggie Mae Doss, also of Tolbert, Wilbarger County, Texas, is recorded as being his nearest relative.

Given that the youngest child of Maggie Mae Doss from what I assume was a previous marriage, Mabel K. Lewis, was born circa 1912 and the daughter of William Henry Doss and Maggie Mae Doss was born circa 1918, it is my best guess that their marriage occurred sometime in 1917.

His WWII Draft Card gives his residence as 3000 Morton Street in Vernon, Wilbarger County, Texas. It notes that he was employed in civil service as a rural mail carrier. A Mrs. S. P. Taylor of Miami, Oklahoma, is listed as the person who will always know his address.

His Social Security Number was 507-32-2106.

He appears on the 1920, Wilbarger County, Texas, Census with his wife, Maggie Mae Doss and their daughter, Annie M. Doss. Other persons listed include a Charles H. Lewis and a Mabel K. Lewis, listed as a stepson and stepdaughter respectively.

In the 1930, Vernon, Wilbarger County, Texas, Census, he appears with Maggie Mae Doss and their daughter, Annie M. Doss. Charles H. Lewis also appears in their household but Mabel K. Lewis is not mentioned.

Later on, in the 1940, Vernon, Wilbarger County, Texas, Census, William Henry Doss appears with Maggie Mae Doss.

From what I have gleaned online, I think that Maggie Mae Holt Lewis Doss, born circa 1878, is William Henry Doss' wife's full name.

According to the obituary of Sarah Elizabeth Flowers, William Doss was living in Omaha, Nebraska at the time of her passing. Given his appearances on Census records after that date in Texas, I believe that he may have been travelling between Nebraska and Texas.

He passed away in Omaha, Douglas County, Nebraska in December of 1968.

He is buried in Kansas.
