Mrs. James Byrne - Young Wife of City Suscumbs After a Three Weeks Illness


Leaves Husband and Two Children


Mrs. Marie T. Byrne, wife of James P. Byrne, died this morning at 4 o'clock at her home, 1208 Fifth Avenue North, after a three-week illness following childbirth. Mrs. Byrne was nearly 28 years of age and had been a resident of this city only a few years coming to this city from Detroit, Mich., in which place her marriage to Mr. Byrne took place. The husband is a well-known young resident of the city being connected with the Byrne-O'Neil Lumber company.


Deceased leaves two children, one 15 months old and the other but three weeks. A mother and sister, residing in Detroit, also survive her. Telegrams have been sent to these informing them of the death and until replies are received funeral arrangements will not be perfected. The remains are now at McAllIster's undertaking rooms.

Marie Selleck Byrne, wife of James P. Byrne, whose untimely departure on this life took place at Great Falls, Montana, on the morning of the 5th inst., after an illness of only a few days, was fortified for her journey to eternity by receiving all the last rites, of her holy religion. Bishop Lenihan, of Great Falls, administering the last Sacraments and preparing her soul to meet Its Maker.


Her death is a severe blow to her husband and a terrible shock to her many relatives and friends in Detroit and elsewhere. Her bereaved husband accompanied the remains to Detroit, arriving here Friday evening and bringing; their two infant girls with him, the oldest only 11 months old. The funeral took place from her mother's residence, 244 Bethune Avenue. and from Holy Rosary Church Saturday at 10 a.m. It was very largely attended. Rev. Father Van Antwerp paid a glowing tribute to the beautiful Christian life of the deceased and offered words of sympathy and consolation to all the bereaved family and friends. The Mass was a Solemn Requiem and the music and singing most touching and appropriate. The casket was completely covered with flowers. The Knights of Columbus of Great Falls sending a large and exquisite floral cross. The interment was at Windsor, Ont.


Marie T. Sellick was well and favorably known in Detroit. She was married to James P. Byrne in SS. Peter and Paul's Cathedral by the Very Rev. M. J. S. Dempsey, V. G., April 26, 1908, and shortly after accompanied her husband to Great Falls, Montana, where they were comfortably established. Besides her husband and children, she leaves a mother, Mrs. M. A. Sellick, and sister. Miss. Eugena, to mourn her departure.
