Raymond James Miller, 60, of Baytown was born December 6, 1952, in Helena, AR and passed away Wednesday, November 13, 2013, in a Houston hospital. He was a 1971 graduate of Central High School in Helena, AR, where he was on the football and baseball teams and a proud 1976 graduate of The University of Arkansas, where he was on the swim and water polo teams. He enjoyed playing men's softball and was named MVP for a championship team the he played on. He was an avid sports fan who enjoyed playing golf and tennis and riding his Harley-Davidson. He was a member of Second Baptist Church in Baytown. Ray worked for Conoco-Phillips for 33 years, where he was employed at the time of his death. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gene and Peggy Miller. He is survived by his wife, Caren Cox Miller of Baytown; daughter, Ashley Miller of Mont Belvieu; stepsons, Ben Reilly and Tim Reilly, both of Baytown; brother and sister-in-law, Jeff and Kay Miller of Centerville; sisters and brother-in-law, Beverly and Tom Patrick of Dallas and Lori Miller of Vero Beach, FL; grandchildren, Taylor King and Skyler Smith, both of Mont Belvieu; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Leon and Margaret Cox of Kerrville; brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, Drew and Faye Cox of Refugio and Scott Cox of Fort Worth; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. His family will receive friends at Navarre Funeral Home Saturday, November 16, 2013 beginning at 1:00 p.m. with a memorial service to follow at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Dave Jirrels officiating. In lieu of usual remembrances, contributions may be made to the Second Baptist Church Building Fund, 6227 N. Main St., Baytown, TX 77521. His family would like to say a special "thank you" to his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Jim and Joann Golden, and Michelle LaVergne Davis for their love and support during his illness.
