GEORGE STATLER

Kalona--George Statler, 61, of rural Washington, died Saturday, Sept. 27, 2008, on I-80 and Highway 141 in Polk County of injuries suffered in a vehicle accident.

Funeral services will be determined by his son Brandon's release from the hospital. For more information call the Peterseim Funeral home in Kalona. Memorials may be made to the George statler Family Fund for charities to be decided by the family.

Mr. Statler was Born May 19, 1947 in Washington, the son of Donald and Esther (Parcel) Statler. He married Ruth Nisly on Nov. 27, 1970 in Washington County.

He graduated from Washington High School and attended Wartburg College. He was the owner of Statler Construction. He belonged to Shiloh Church, Pheasants Forever, Ducks Unlimited, White Tails Unlimited and the Kalona Rotary Club.

Surviving are his wife; children, six grandchildren; a brother, a sister, and a sister-in-law.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Ron Statler.

Celebration of Life services for George Statler are Thursday, October 9, 2008 at 1:00 PM. The service and all visitation will be at Shiloh Church, 100 Shiloh Dr., Kalona, IA 52247. Visitation will be Tuesday, Oct. 7 from 5-8 PM and Wednesday, Oct. 8 from 2-4 PM at Shiloh. Private burial service. He was an outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. George was a member of Shiloh Church, Pheasants Forever, Ducks Unlimited, White Tails Unlimited and Kalona Rotary Club. Surviving are his wife, Ruth, four children: Jeremy and Kari Statler of Kalona, April and Clair Miller of Kalona, Brandon and Amy Statler of Washington and Zion Statler of Van Nuys, CA, grandchildren, Caleb, Abigail and Elijah Statler, Isaac and Sarah Miller and Kylie Statler. Also surviving are a brother, Larry and wife Jan Statler of Parnell, a sister, Donna and husband Jack Emry of Ballwin, MO, and a sister-in-law Roberta Meirotto, of Salem, IA. Preceding George in death were his parents and a brother Ron Statler. IN LIEU OF FLOWERS the family requests that memorials be directed to the George Statler Memorial Fund to be given to charities of the family's choice.
