She came to the United States with her two daughters, Bertha and Ema Schuler, on the SS Eider. It left from Bremen and arrived in New York on August 22, 1885. Her husband, Ludwig Schuler, was not on this ship with them and probably came over a year earlier. They settled in Havelock, Nebraska. Ema Schuler married Frank Krowlick and had at least four sons. Bertha Schuler married Fred Conrad Koeller and moved near Harrisonville, Missouri. After Ludwig's death, Lena moved in with Bertha and Fred until her death in 1922. She was buried in the Havelock Cemetery.
