South Hadley - Walter L. Ziemba Jr., 75, died Sunday in Holyoke Medical Center. Walter was born in Chicopee, the son of the late Walter and Katherine (Les) Ziemba, and has lived in South Hadley since 1975. He was the presiding overseer of the Holyoke English Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses for many years. He also was a retired salesman for Waste Management in Chicopee. He was an avid Ham Radio Operator, call letters "W1WLZ", and was a member of the Mt. Tom Amateur Radio Association and the Hampden County Radio Club. He leaves his wife of 52 years Carmella J. (Catania) Ziemba; four sons Walter John Ziemba of Holyoke, Paul H. Ziemba and his wife Sherry of Belchertown, Curtis J. Ziemba of Tucson, AZ, David L. Ziemba and his wife Jennifer of Chicopee; two sisters-in-law Helen and Viola Ziemba both of California; four grandchildren Lindsey, Carly, Mathew and Holly Ziemba and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held Saturday July 14, 2007 at 7:00 pm in the Holyoke Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, Route 5 Smith's Ferry. There are no calling hours and the West Springfield Curran-Jones Funeral Home is handling all arrangements.
