"The death of Merton Paul Petrie, a well known resident of Hyde Park, occurred Monday morning at about 11:30 o'clock near Grasslands south of the village as he was engaged at his duties as linesman of the New York State Gas & Electric corporation. The cause of his death was heart trouble. Mr. Petrie was born at Hyde Park November 22, 1878, and had lived there throughout his entire life. He was a good mechanic and a faithful workman and well liked by a wide circle of friends. The aged father, Albert Petrie, and one brother, Samuel J. Petrie, who survive, have the sympathy of all in their bereavement." [Obituary published in The Otsego Farmer (Cooperstown, NY), March 30, 1928, and provided by Find A Grave Member #47755404]
