Hulitt N. Hope was born on Paint Twp, Highlamd Co, Ohio; the son of Henry William Hope & Mary Lucinda (Hulitt) Hope. [His birth record lists name as Hulett B. Hope, son of H. W. Hope & Mary L Hulett.]

His siblings were 'Lizzie' Elizabeth, 'Lillie' Lilliebelle, Mary L., Edward B., 'Will' William, and 'Harry' Henry Leroy Hope.

At age 28, Hulitt N. married Esther Rebecca Redkey, age 24, also of Paint Twp, Highland Co, Ohio; on March 20, 1907 by Rev H. W. Howard, M E Church, Hillsboro, Ohio.

They had two sons, Henry W. Hope (1908-1964, Illinois) and Cameron R Hope (1912-1981, Kentucky).

Hulitt Hope was a merchant - operating a general store at Rocky Fork five miles west of Bainbridge for more than 30 years that his father had founded about 1877. He was a faithful member of the Methodist Episcopal Church since childhood.
