The Greenfield Vidette (Greenfield Missouri) 27 May 1937 Thu p. 4:
Mildred Eliza McConnell, daughter of J. Arthur and Mamie Carlock McConnell, was born seven miles northeast of Greenfield, June 2, 1916 and died of pneumonia after three days at the state home in Marshall, Mo., May 21, 1937, aged 20 years, 11 months, and 19 days.
At age of three years, Mildred suffered a severe attack of the flu which affected her mind, and her mentality and never developed beyond that age.
For a number of years her parents cared for her tenderly at home, but in 1928, it was thought best to send her to the home in Marshall.
Those who survive her are her father and mother, three brothers, five sisters, three little nieces and nephews, besides numerous other relatives and friends.
Her brothers and sisters are Clinton McConnell of near Greenfield, Raymond McConnell of Concoran, Calif., Mrs. Marjorie Tefertiller of Crish, Mo., and Mary, Marguerite Juanita, Eugene and Lucille of the home address.
The body was returned to Greenfield by the J. W. Ward Undertaking Company and funeral services were held at Union Chapel Sunday afternoon, May 23, conducted by J. N. Davis. The body was then laid to rest in the Vaughn Cemetery.
Pure and innocent the soul of baby Mildren came from God, and in the same purity and innocence as that of a little child, He who said, "Suffer little children to come unto Me and forbid them not," has in His love and mercey taken her to that better home.
