Elaine was the love of his life they were married for 68 years before her death. They have three children, Janice, Brent and Marilyn.
Doyle lived all 90 years of his life here in Lovell. He farmed with his son Brent. Doyle was an inventor and improver. He was the first to try a new crop, the latest equipment, or a new form of irrigation such as gated pipe that won him in 1982 the service award for the Upper Missouri Water Users Assoc. In the winter Doyle fed 3000 head of cattle for the Rankin Ranch in Montana for 10 years. Doyle loved to farm and garden. He spent hours planting, weeding and harvesting his garden. Radishes and tomatoes were top of the list.
Doyle enjoyed hard work but also enjoyed playing hard. Loved to ski at the Medicine Wheel ski run in the Big Horn Mountains. He was vital in keeping the run operating as he was the one that could re-splice the rope by braiding it together and he could keep the engine running. Doyle taught many people to ski.
On Thursday evenings you would find Doyle at the bowling alley, even at 90 years of age, he bowled the Thursday before his death. He was called, "Old Smoothie" by his bowling friends.
Doyle co-owned a Cessna 175 plane with Bert Huntington. Elaine and Doyle enjoyed flying to Billings just for a cup of coffee. In addition to skiing, bowling and flying, Doyle spent hours on the "Flying Turtle," his pontoon boat, on Big Horn Lake. He hosted parties at his home at his swimming pool, taking Elaine dancing and raising and loving his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Doyle stated, "My grandchildren and great grandchildren are the BEST CROP I ever raised."
Doyle is survived by his two daughters Janice Gray, of Nashville, , Marilyn Dickson, of Lovell, and son Brent (Darlene) of Lovell, nine grandchildren, and 41 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife Elaine Sessions, parents, two brothers Vernon and Merlin and sister Vernice Cozzens.
A viewing was held on Monday, September 16, at Haskell's Funeral Home and funeral services were held on Tuesday, September 17, at Lovell Wyoming Stake Center, Lovell, WY. Interment followed at the Lovell Cemetery.
