KINGS MOUNTAIN Mr. John Wright Goforth, 39, died Monday, Sept. 29, 2003, at Hospice at Wendover.

Born in Cleveland County, he was a son of Vernell Beam Jones and her husband, Marshall, of the home and the late Coleman Wright Goforth. He was a graduate of Burns High School and the Carolina Truck Driving School at Concord. He was an owner and long-distance truck driver, driving for Land Star Trucking Co. in Jacksonville, Fla. He was a member of Beulah United Methodist Church in Kings Mountain. He was known by the C.B. handle, T-bone John.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Elzie L. and Della Borders Beam; paternal grandparents, Geo E. and Lizzie Pannell Goforth; and an aunt, Caroline Beam Martin.

In addition to his mother and stepfather, he is survived by two sisters, Bess Hambidge and husband, Matt, of Shelby and Ruby McKinney and husband, Mitchell, of Kings Mountain; uncles, Joe Goforth and wife, Sophia, Charles Beam and wife, Frances, Carlton Beam, David Beam and wife, Eileen, and Mike Beam and wife, Joyce, all of Shelby; sisters, Katherine Goforth of Shelby, Aunt Doll Goforth of Polkville, Louise McKee of Durham and Cora Shinn and husband, Ed, of China Grove; nieces and nephews, Kosta and Liliana Hambidge, Dale and Windy McKinney, Mark and Kathy Smith, Dana McKinney, and Michael and Christie Jones; great-nieces and nephews, Kaitlin and Jacob McKinney, Maverick Smith and McKenzie Jones; and special friends, Frank and Brenda Jones.
