Curtis Gaston Lowrie, 91, of Grand Prairie, TX, devoted husband, father, uncle, brother, brother-in-law, grandfather, great grandfather and friend, passed away peacefully on July 23, surrounded by his loving family, after a long battle with COPD. Curtis was born November 28, 1922 in Terrell Texas to John R and Mae Lowrie. Curtis enjoyed a wonderful childhood with his 3 brothers and 4 sisters. His brothers and sisters that preceded him in death include Glenwood, Loyd, Brannon, Lorene, Tommie and Ethel. His sister Troy of Georgetown TX, survives him. He is also survived by his brother-in-law and best friend, Charlie Gipson of Mabank TX. Curtis attended Terrell High School, where he met the love of his life, Jeana Faye Wooldridge. Curtis and Jeana were married on October 16, 1942 and were married for 64 years. Curtis was preceded in death by his loving wife, Jeana in 2006. Curtis was a PT Boat mechanic in the Navy during WWII, off of Guadalcanal in the Pacific. Curtis served 14 years in the Navy, both active and reserves. He went on to work in the oilfields of Matagorda County. He then went on to work for Ling Temco Vought in Grand Prairie for many years and then joined Wales Transportation Co. from which he retired in 1984. Curtis and Jeana enjoyed many of their retirement years vacationing with many family members. His children lovingly remember the wonderful memories from attending church, picnics, reunions and marriages at his beloved Camp Ground Presbyterian in Poetry, TX. Curtis was a dedicated member of the Sam R. Hamilton Masonic Lodge #1031 in Grand Prairie. In June of 1998, Curtis became The Most Worshipful Master, serving in that post for one year. He was an excellent builder, mechanic and gardener. Curtis and Jeana loved visiting Red River, and were excellent square dancers for many years. Curtis also became a "performer" late in his life, performing skits with his friend Deana at many events. Curtis and Jeana were also members of the First Baptist Church of Grand Prairie since 1957. Curtis is survived by his children, Curtis Wayne Lowrie, Teresa Lowrie Davis and Brenda Lowrie Price and son-in-law William "Bill" Price, all of Grand Prairie; sister Troy Day of Georgetown TX.; grandchildren Toby Miller & wife Drue of Marietta GA; Trisha Moden & Carl of Trinidad, CO; Rodney Kaderka & wife Kim of Keller, TX; Hillary Barnett & Dan of Grapevine, TX; Courtney Davis of Grand Prairie, TX; great-grandchildren Lane Moden, Bailee Kaderka, Tanner Moden, Dylann Kaderka, Owen Barnett and Connor Barnett.; and grand-dogs and faithful companions Sammy and Max. Curtis is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Family, friends and colleagues are cordially invited to a Visitation, Thursday, July 25 from 6pm - 8pm at Bean Massey Burge Funeral Home, 2951 S. Belt Line Rd, Grand Prairie, 75052. Funeral services will be held on Friday July 26, at 2:00pm at Bean Massey Burge Funeral Home. Interment will be Monday July 29 at 9:30am at DFW National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek, Dallas TX. 75211.
