Funeral services for Mrs. Beverly Richardson Hazen will be held on Thursday, Jan. 5, 2006, at 11 a.m. at South Aiken Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Dr. John L. Frye Jr. officiating. Interment will follow at Southlawn Cemetery, Aiken. Visitation will be this evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at George Funeral Homes Historic Downtown Chapel, 211 Park Ave. SW Aiken, SC 29801. Memorial donations may be directed to South Aiken Presbyterian Church, 1711 Whiskey Road, Aiken, SC 29803.
Mrs. Hazen, 72, of Aiken, died Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2006, at Pepperhill Nursing Center.
A daughter of the late William Paul and Bertha Kate Merritt Richardson, she was born in Atlanta, Ga., and had lived in Greenville, S.C, before moving to Aiken in 1995. Beverly attended Oglethorpe University in Atlanta, Ga., during the early 1950s. A member of South Aiken Presbyterian Church, Mrs. Hazen was an ordained elder and had also served as the clerk of session. She was an avid golfer.
She is survived by her husband, Robert D. Hazen of Aiken; a son, Richard D. (Kathy) Hazen of Aiken; two daughters, Katherine (Philip) Lyles of Piedmont, S.C, and Barbara Hazen Curl of Atlanta, Ga.; a brother, William Merritt Richardson of Winder, Ga.; and a sister, Wilynda R. Robinson of Cairo, Ga.
Mrs. Hazen is also survived by four grandchildren.
