Robert A. Adolphson, a retired miner of Dudley, passed away in the J. C. Blair Memorial Hospital on Tuesday, July 5, 1955, at 10:55 a.m. Death followed an extended illness and he had been a patient in the hospital for one week prior to his passing.
The deceased was born at Riddlesburg on March 4, 1883, a son of Peter and Mary (Lundquest) Adolphson. He was united in marriage to Carrie J. Bradley on October 4, 1903.
He was a member of the Dudley Methodist Church. He belonged to UMWA Local 1031, District 2, Robertsdale. He was a retired coal miner, having been employed at the Rockhill Coal Company's No. 9 mine at Robertsdale.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by the following children: Elliott Adolphson, Raymond Adolphson and Mrs. Chester (Dorothy) McCue, all of Dudley; Robert Adolphson, Jr., Akron, O.; Mrs. W. J. (Loretta) Bigham, Altoona. Ten grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Martha Donaldson of Saxton, survive.
Funeral services will be held on Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Dudley Methodist Church. The Rev. J. Lester Showalter will officiate and interment will be made in the Dudley Cemetery, directed by Huff's funeral service, Saxton. Friends will be received at the late home until 11 o'clock on Friday when the body will be taken to the church where it will lie in state from noon until the hour for the service.
