Jessie Babcock
Mrs. Jessie R. Babcock, 411 Arbor Way, State College, died at the Willowbank unit of Centre Community Hospital, Bellefonte, at 3:29 a.m. Tuesday, November 16, 1976.
She was born July 11, 1888, in Huntingdon, the daughter of John Bradley and Ida (Black) Reed. On August 14, 1914, she was married to Dr. Harry F. Babcock, who died August 17, 1971.
She is survived by one son, Dr. J. Reed of Bellefonte; one daughter, Mrs. Robert H. Hasek of Kingsport, Tenn.; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
She attended Birmingham Seminary and Dickinson Seminary.
She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star of Lewisburg, Bellefonte chapter of the Daughters of the American Colonists, State College Woman's Club and the WCTU of State College.
She was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church of State College, where she was a member of the Crusaders Class and was active in other organizations of the church.
Funeral services will be held at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, State College, Thursday at 1 p.m., with the Rev. Bruce D. Fisher and Dr. Nelson H. Frank officiating. Burial will be in the Riverview Cemetery, Huntingdon. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul's United Methodist Church or the Epworth Manor United Methodist Home, Tyrone.
