Vinnie was a daughter of the late Harrison D. and Lydia Margaret Davis and the widow of Oliver Parker Jenkins.

Oliver and Vinnie were married in 1908 in Spartenburg, SC. They became the parents of eleven children: Sally, Carrie, Iolet, Arbie Jane, Anna Laura, Willa Belle, William Swan, Nellie, Richard, Ollie, and Della. Two of the children were in World War II: Richard joined the Air Force early in 1942 and was killed in action August 2, 1942. William Swan joined the Army and was wounded in July, 1944.
