Oliver was the father of eleven children, including PFC Richard Clem Jenkins who joined the Air Force in January, 1942 and was killed in action in August of that same year. Another son, William Swan Jenkins, joined the Army and was wounded in July, 1944.
According to his death certificate, Oliver was a veteran of the Spanish-American War, and was a farmer at the time of his death. He also carried the mail into the Cataloochee Community of Haywood County.
At the age of 82, Oliver fractured his hip and passed away in the Haywood County Hospital from a sudden pulmonary embolism.
Oliver is in my family tree as my paternal 2nd cousin, 3x removed.
