Elwin Tobey, 84, Retired Railroad Employe, (sic) Dies

Elwin B. Tobey, 84, of 1542 Neva Road, retired railroad man, resident of Antigo since childhood, died Tuesday afternoon at the Langlade County Memorial hospital after a month's illness.

Mr. Tobey was foreman in the bridge and building department for the Chicago & North Western railroad prior to retirement in 1948. He was born April 8, 1878, at Dale, Wis., the son of Mr. and Mrs. Elverton Tobey. On March 22, 1900, he was married in Antigo to Emma Leonard.

The deceased was a member of the Congregational church, the Masonic Lodge No. 231, F&AM, and the Brotherhood of Maintenance of Ways.

His wife and a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Margaret Tobey of Ogden, Utah, survive.

Also surviving are five sisters and a brother, Mrs. E. A. Moss of Antigo, Mrs. Nellie McCrite of Alexandria, Va., Mrs. Charlotte Dudley of Vancouver, Wash., and Mrs. Adeline Shaw and Mrs. Oscar Nicholson, both of Marenisco, Mich., and Glen Tobey of Spruce, Mich.; a grandson, Earl Tobey of Ogden and one great-grandchild.

A son Earl died Feb. 18, 1943.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the McCandless-Zobel and Bradley funeral home. The Rev. J. Gordon Bennett will officiate. Masonic rites will also be held. Burial will be in Antigo cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home until time of services.
