Poet, Lawyer, Translator and Teacher. Educated in English speaking Protestant schools and Jesuit Colleges in Montreal as well as the Sorbonne in Paris. He earned his law degree in 1910 from Laval University. He published his first book of poetry in 1911 Le Paon d'émail and his second in 1922, Poems of Ashes and Gold which won the Prix David Award in 1923. His third publication was in 1960 entitled (The Old Man and His Mirror). He taught literature first at McGill University (1914), then at Smith College in Northampton, near Boston (1915), then Romance languages at the University of Minnesota (1916-18). In 1924, he published a French translation of Evangeline by Henry W. Longfellow.
