Claude C. Starkey was a son of Charles Allen and Minerva (Carlton) Starkey.

The Daily Sitka Sentinel from 1/25/1980 ran the following:

Services Held For Pioneer, Claude Starkey
Claude Starkey, a Pioneers Home resident, died Tuesday following a long illness.
Services were to be at 1:30 p.m. today at the Pioneer Home Chapel. Burial will be in the Pioneers Home Cemetery.
Starkey, 77, was born May 22, 1902, in Burlington, Iowa. He came to Alaska in 1942 and lived in Sitka, Anchorage, and Fairbanks before settling in Seward for 20 years.
He was a bartender, and well known as "Starkey." He owned the Palace Bar for years in Seward before entering the home in 1977.
He leaves no known survivors.
