Virginia (Jean) Honig Greason, loving wife, mother and grandmother was called home to be with the rest of her family in the arms of the Lord after a brief illness. She passed away peacefully Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at Licking Memorial Hospital Hospice in Newark, Ohio surrounded by her family. Age 88 years. Virginia, the youngest daughter of Alex and Anna Sroka Hurst. Virginia Hurst was born May 27, 1924 in Owosso, Michigan where she remained until the family relocated to Saginaw, Michigan in the 1930's. After attending Holy Rosary School, she became the War-Time bride of Ralph H. Honig on August 1, 1942. While Ralph was deployed, Jean took employment at Eaton Manufacturing to support the war effort. Following the war she was employed at Michigan National Bank and later was the office manager/accountant at Industrial Sheet Metal Co. The couple raised five children until Ralph suddenly died on September 1, 1970. She continued to raise her family as a single mother until meeting and finally marrying David M. Greason on November 20, 1976. Virginia is survived by her husband David of 36 years and by her five children, Richard (Barbara) Honig, Freeland; Kathryn Honig, Kissimmee, Florida; Randall (Connie) Honig, Celebration, Florida and North Carolina; Robin (Rebecca) Honig, New Jersey; Kristyn (Chris) Brown, Novi, Michigan; she also leaves to cherish her memory 12 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren in addition to her four step children, five step grandchildren and two great-grandchildren from her current marriage to David along with many nieces and nephews. Waiting for her at the table of the Lord are her parent's Alex and Anna Sroka Hurst, her brother, Burt (Pauline) Hurst and sisters's Dorothy (Art) Ledtke, Gladys (Ernie) Younk and Marie (George) Bugenske.

Jean's first love was her FAMILY and she expressed it often and proudly. Her brother, sisters and each of their children she considered an extension of her own husband and children and the family get-together's and Holiday's were do-not-miss events. She continued to attend the family events unti age and health would no longer allow her to do so. With her family raised, Jean's marriage to David Greason allowed her to partake in another passion, TRAVEL. David, as a retired Naval Reserve Officer, as well as ASTM Board Member and past Chairman of the Board, had the opportunity to travel with Jean across the USA and to various foreign countries giving her even more memories to share with her family and friends. In her younger years she led an active life volunteering for political campaigns, serving on the Girl Scout Board of Directors and was a docent with the Newark Art Museum.

The family is especially grateful to Julie Brown for her time and effort to make Jean's last months as comfortable as possible. In addition Robin and Kathy re-located to Ohio to assist David with her care allowing Jean to remain in her home as long as possible.

Funeral Liturgy will take place 10:00 a.m. Monday, April 8, 2013 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church. Rev. Fr. David Parsch will officiate with burial in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
