SPARTANBURG - Robert Lauris Black, 62, died March 25, 2013, in the Asheville VA Hospital.

He was born in Orangeburg, SC, to the late Lauris Shannon Black and Roberta Lee Hudson Black. His childhood home was in Denmark, SC; he had been a resident of Spartanburg since 1992. He graduated from Orangeburg Technical College, served in the U.S. Navy from 1968-1972, was a self-employed computer programmer, a member of Denmark First Baptist, attended Spartanburg First Baptist, and was a volunteer for Disabled American Veterans and the Spartanburg Animal Shelter.

He is survived by a sister, Shannon Lee Black of Spartanburg; a very special friend, Mary Leahy of Spartanburg; numerous cousins; a veteran friend, Eddie Lambert of Pisgah Forest, NC; and his devoted Boykin Spaniel, Molly.

Private service and burial will be at a later date in Denmark, SC.
