Bessie Lee Erwin, 99, of Denton died Friday, Feb. 11, 2005, at the Carriage House.
She was born April 25, 1905, in Sanger to Soloman and Anna Lee (Jones) Charles. On Nov. 8, 1925, she married George Lain Erwin in Denton. He died Feb. 23, 1988.
She attended public school. She was a homemaker and a member of Highland Baptist Church.
A funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 13, 2005, at Highland Baptist Church. The Rev. Eddie Schaffer will officiate. Burial will follow in the Cooper Creek Cemetery. The family will be at the funeral home Saturday, Feb. 12, from 2 to 5 p.m. Her sons, son-in-law and Bill Travis will be the pallbearers.
Mrs. Erwin is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Jerry McCormick of Denton; six sons and daughters-in-law, Charles and Melba Erwin of Aubrey, James A. and Joyce Erwin of Denton, Joe and Barbara Erwin of Hurst, George and Maurine Erwin of Saint Jo, Maurice and Carmen Erwin of Denton, and Ronnie and Janie Erwin of Aubrey; her sister, Lucille Enlow of Denton; 27 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by five children, Anna Jean Erwin, Bob Erwin, Mary Dobbins, Imalain Hardy and Donnie Erwin.
Mulkey-Mason, Jack Schmitz and Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
