Mr. Augustus Harris "Gus" Horne, Jr. age 87, of Rome passed away Saturday March 2, 2013 at his residence.

Mr. Horne was born November 19, 1925, in Floyd County a son of the late Augustus Harris Horne, Sr. and Anna Blanche Partee Horne. He was a member and deacon of Mt. Alto Baptist Church, and Clara Davis Sunday School Class. He was owner of A. H. Horne, Jr. Land Surveyors. Mr. Horne was retired from the Rome Fire Department as a Captain. He was a veteran of the United States Navy serving during WWII. Mr. Horne member of Coosa Lodge #622 F&AM, he was preceded in death by his wife Tommie Lou Hardin Horne, brother, William Glenn Horne.

Survivors include a son and daughter in law, Timothy Paul and Marsha Cox Horne, Lawrenceville, grandchildren, Jackson Martin Horne and Savannah Leigh Horne, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Monday March 4, 2013 at Mt. Alto Baptist Church, with Dr. Frank Wood and Rev. Gary Graves, officiating. Interment will follow in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens. The family received friends on Sunday March 3, 2013 from 6 until 8p.m. at Parnick Jennings, Sr.'s Good Shepherd Funeral Home.

Mr. Horne will lie instate at the church on Monday one hour prior to the services.

In lieu of flowers the family will request donation be made to Mt. Alto Baptist Church, 1915 Huffaker Rd. Rome, Ga. 30165.

Pallbearers include the following gentlemen and are asked to meet at the church on Monday by 3:00 p.m. Vonnie Blanton, Randall Carver, Dewayne Comer, Bob Dansby, Jon Hardin, and Claude Lynch.
