Mr. Abell was born July 25, 1948, in Ontario, Calif., to Ralph and Nettie Embrey Abell. He married Rhonda Hampton on Jan. 5, 1972, in Bellingham, Wash.
He grew up in Ontario and lived there until 1965, then moved to Springfield. He moved to Winnemucca, Nev., in 1983 and to Reno in 1994. He moved back to Springfield in 1997.
He was a pipefitter welder and belonged to Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 350 in Reno, Nev. He enjoyed camping, fishing and hunting.
Survivors include his wife; his father; three sons, Wade and Larry, both of Portland, and Bradley of Winnemucca; two daughters, Barbara Stewart of Portland and Devon Abell of Chino Valley, Ariz.; six brothers, John and Jess, both of Springfield, Eddie and Terry, both of Marcola, Gene of Winnemucca and Ralph of Reno; a sister, Wanda Abell of Eugene; and eight grandchildren. A son, Toby, died previously.
