Russell G. Hamersly, 75, of Roanoke, passed from this life on January 27, 2013. Russell was born in March of 1937. Preceding him in death were his parents, Russell C. And Ethel A. Hamersly; and sister, Audrey Gillispie. Russell is a parishioner at Our Lady of Nazareth Catholic Church. He retired from Nelson Roanoke Corp. and Home Depot. Russell is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Maria Hamersly; and one exceptional daughter, Melinda (Boo) Clingenpeel and husband, Dwayne. He also leaves behind two wonderful grandchildren, Tyler and Tiffany. Russell has one special cousin, Phyllis Terry, of Roanoke along with many others. A funeral mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Nazareth Catholic Church at 11 a.m. on Thursday, January 31, 2013, by Rev. Msgr. Joseph Lehman. Burial to follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens in Roanoke. Family will receive friends at Oakey's Roanoke Chapel on Wednesday from 5 to 7 pm. Russell loved life, laughter and music and he would want you to laugh at yourself everyday and dance blissfully to James Brown's "I Got You (I Feel Good)"!
