He was the son of the late Thomas and Martha Quilliams Freeman. He was also preceded in death by a son, Morris Alan Freeman and a sister, Hilda Jennings. He was a US Air Force veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a foreman at Dayco, a building contractor, and the owner of Haywood Furniture Manufacturing.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Gladys Pruett Freeman; a daughter, Jackie Jenkins of Canton; two sons, Dennis Freeman and his wife, Darlene, of Hudson, FL and Tom Freeman and his wife, Lynn, of Waynesville; a sister, Thomasine Dillard of Sylva; three brothers, Bill and Jim Freeman, both of Waynesville and Johnny Freeman of Acton, CA.
