Ila Mae Bieber was born to Hjalmer and Carol Johnson in 1933 in Aberdeen, S.D.
-She grew up in the Aberdeen area and enjoyed spending time with her Aunt Phyllis in Roslyn, S.D., and at her Aunt Nora's hotel. She met a tall, dark, and handsome young man named Marvin, with a curly lock of dark brown hair on his forehead and big, brown eyes at a dance at the Eagle's Lodge, and he whisked her away to Miles City, Mont., where they married in 1950. In 1951, they welcomed their first daughter in Spokane.
-They continued their trek across the country and settled in Southern California in the early 1950s, where their family grew with the addition of another daughter and two sons. Ila was a dedicated wife and mother, and once her children were grown began a career as the Preschool Director for Huntington Valley Church in Fountain Valley, Calif. She enjoyed her family, her grandchildren, her Bible study sisters, entertaining and traveling.
-In 1989, Marvin and Ila retired in Post Falls where they began the next chapter of their lives together in Ila's dream home, a Painted Lady Victorian overlooking the river. Winters were spent in Mesa, Ariz., enjoying Bible Study, musicals and plays, ceramics, jewelry making, travel, shopping and entertaining. Many new friends were made, family was always welcome to "vacation," and she continued to bless everyone she came in contact with.
-Ila's greatest joys in life were her family, her friends and her love for the Lord. We are all comforted knowing that she has been made perfect in God's presence, and is enjoying Heaven with her best friend and sister-in-Christ, Maria Yarwood.
-Ila is survived by her husband of 62 years, Marvin; daughters, Alonda Sheldon of Spokane and Linda Meltebarger of Post Falls; sons, Paul Bieber and Steve Bieber, both of Huntington Beach, Calif.; grandchildren, Kari, Jeremy, Nicole, James, Stephanie, Jesse, Joelle, Cora, Marcus, Natalie, Julia, Lauren and Rachel; and great-grandchildren, Scott, Sarah, Emma, Jaycey, Hailey, Kyley and Allison.
-Ila will always be remembered for her kindness, her grace, her beauty, her class, her impeccable taste, her creativity, and most of all, her dedication to the Lord and her family. She will be dearly missed.
