Robert Arretus Corn (1833-1904) was the son of Noah Parr Corn (1797-1874) & Elizabeth Capps Corn (1797-1872). He was the husband of Elizabeth Henderson Corn (1838-1901). They were married May 10, 1857. He was the father of 13 children - William Walker Corn (1858-1922) & John Lafayette Corn (1859-1944) & Susan Alice Corn West (1861-1917) & Robert Zachariah Corn (1864-????) & Nancy Elizabeth Corn Bailey (1866-1952) & Mary Naoma Corn Fagen (1868-1903) & James Albert Corn (1870-1956) & Ella Lucinda Corn Metcalf (1871-1903) & Richard Furman Corn (1874-1945) & Emily Christine Corn Metcalf (1876-1960) (My Great Grandmother) & Minnie Eugenia Corn (1878-1888) & Charles Judson Corn (1880-1969) & Julie Mariah Corn (1884-1963). He was the Postmaster of Halewood, Madison County, North Carolina. The Corns were known for their singing ability. His daughter, Emily Cristine Corn Metcalf, sang alto in a quartet with her brothers. They often sang in all the local churches. The Metcalfs, Corns and Lisenbees all lived in the area between Mars Hill and Marshall, Madison County, North Carolina. They lived in seperate coves of the Madison Mountains. It is only natural that the families mixed. I am a product of that mixing. They were independent people who depended on each other and themselves.
