Carl is the son of Mack and Jo Oliver. He is the youngest of five children. He married his high school sweetheart on July 2, 1983. They have three daughters.

Carl was buried on private property just through the woods from where he lived. It was his wish to be buried on the land he loved. He had a small family service at the grave site and later had a memorial service celebrating his life, at the Pine Tree Church of Christ, where he was a deacon.

Carl was loved by everyone. He was known as the one to go to when you needed help. He had a deep and abiding love for the word of God. This love was the driving force in his life, along with his love for his wife and daughters.
