I got started on "Find-a-grave" after my husband passed away in Jan. 2011. It has been a way to memorize him and visit him as he was buried in his home town in Indiana and it is too far for me to travel often. He was George Voorhies(1934-2011) He was a very interesting personality. He had very poor beginnings, but he never gave up on anything. He was a self-taught person. If he wanted to do anything, he did not give up on it. He was a carpenter, an operating engineer of heavy machinery, and farmer. The one thing that he accomplished was to fly a small airplane. He was 69 years old when he got his single engine land flying certificate from the "Dept. of Transportation, Federal Aviation Administration". We have two children, seven grandchildren & six great-grandchildren. All still living as of this day in January 2013. We all miss him and he was loved dearly.

Today our hearts were touched By graves of tiny babies; Snatched from the arms of loving kin, In the heartbreak of the ages.
Today we saw where the grandparents lay In the last sleep of their time; Lying under the trees and clouds - Their beds kissed by the sun and wind.
Today we wondered about an unmarked spot; Who lies beneath this hollowed ground? Was it a babe, child, young or old? No indication could be found.
Today we recorded for kith and kin The graves of ancestors past; To be preserved for generations hence, A record we hope will last.
Cherish it, my friend; preserve it, my friend, For stones sometimes crumble to dust And generations of folks yet to come Will be grateful for your trust.
