I have been working on my Family Tree for almost 10 years, slowly at first, but increasingly as the passion has grown. I am committed to being as accurate as possible, so I do not enter anything without supporting documentation which means hours and hours of research and then entering things either manually or scanning them to my computer. My family tree now has over 10,150 persons with over 3250 media items as of 03/02/13. This does not include birth, wedding announcements, & obituaries which are typed in separately under "Notes." I am luckier than most in that both my maternal and paternal ancestors stayed almost entirely in the Niagara/Orleans County area of New York State. I am more than willing to help others with volunteer photos in my area of Southwest Florida because I've received some beautiful photos from volunteers in the areas surrounding my hometown of North Tonawanda, N.Y. Thank you one and all for your support and friendship.
Grose, Wilhelm and Henriette You did not cross any line by requesting a grave photo. You are allowed to request photos for memorials that others have made. In fact, if you are related to the person of the memorial, you may request the memorial to be transferred to you from the person whom created it, that way you can add to the memorial and manage it. Others may still add pics.
I'm glad to help. If you have any information about Civil War soldier John Segert (c 1826-1899)I'd be very interested in it for my research. Let me know if there are other family members you are looking for at Pittsford Cemetery, and I'd be happy to photograph them for you.
Grose, Wilhelm and Henriette This cemetery is a Historic site and not active as a cemetery. I checked with the historian for the records to see where they were buried. He didn't have the section but sent me to the vital statistics clerk. Wilhelm's death certificate lists his first name as "William", death on 1-12-1906, year of birth as 1822 in Germany, 84 years old. Other info she gave me was; he was a resident of USA 36 yr, his father George from Germany, mother Judith from Germany, he died of pneumonia and he is buried in Sweeney but they don't have section. Henriette's death certificate lists her birth as 2-4-1826, death as 3-2-1914, father from Germany, mother from Germany buried in Sweeney but section unknown funeral handled by funeral home. An addendum on the city website lists her death due to "nephitis" I found her name on that list as "Grase" may be just a typo. You could leave the photo requests up and someone else or myself may get the time to search the entire cemetery. Hope the info I have included has helped.
Frank & George Suhr You're welcome, Ellen! I've located more Suhrs at Pittsford Cemetery and have linked many of them when I knew the relationships. Will plan to get headstone photos of the others soon.
