| Bio and Links | I've always been fascinated with history and with genealogy. I'm currently trying to update the records of graves in Hillside Cemetery near my home in Saguache, Colorado. This includes adding historical and biographical information that I may locate. The town is one of many small, dying towns in the country, but it has a fascinating early history.
I will gladly transfer memorials to immediate family members, following the guidelines of Find-a-Grave.com. Just click on "Edit" on the memorial page, then click where it says to suggest a correction to the memorial. | |

Thank you so much for your very kind note. I added the caption concenring his name to the headstone photo and placed 2 more photos temporarily on his page so that you can see them. I think they may be of interest. Last summer I visited Tanyard Park in downtown Atlanta - this is one of the locations where the Battle of Peachtree Creek was fought. As the memorial tablet recounts, the fighting was "most costly here along Tanyard Branch at Collier's Mill." You can see a bit of the creek in the photo if you look closely enough.
This location sounds like it might be where Xaver died and was first buried from the description on his memorial page. I just wanted to share with you this photo I took 148 years and 10 days after the battle. This park is amazingly peaceful and beautiful.
After you finish looking at the Tanyard Branch Creek photo and the memorial tablet photo, please let me know when you're ready for me to remove these extra photos. Just thought they might be of interest to you and this seemed to be the easiest way to share them with you.

I uploaded a photo of the headstone to his page then ran across the correspondence you had about the photo. You can look at it and then let me know if you don't want to keep and I'll be happy to remove it. I was photographing other stones in the area and just happened to get a photo of this one too.
Please let me know if you want it removed and I'll take it off.

Yes, there should be a stone, Section G, plot: 6678.
But, two things...
1. The name will probably be spelled EXAVER BROWN on the stone.
2. Because it says Brown on the stone AND the VA grave locator has him listed as BROWN, photo volunteers may have trouble finding it listed under BRAUN. Be sure to put a note in the photo request saying the name may be spelled BROWN.
(You may want to decide if you want a picture of the stone with the name EXAVER BROWN on the findagrave memorial. Once a photo is posted, it can only be deleted by the photo volunteer who posted it.)Added by Janet on Apr 12, 2013 10:12 PM | | | Barbara Butcher

Thank you for the information. I'm including both cemetery stones on his page, but will note that he is actually buried in Uniontown. Since he lived for many years in Saguache I'm really glad he has a stone there, too.

I live in Erie, PA and am working on a volume of grave locations for veterans of the Mexican War. I would like your permission to use the picture you posted of James Downer's grave in this compilation. I will cite you as the source. He also has a stone in the Oak Grove Cemetery, Fayette Co., PA.
