Some names of interest in my own family line include Lowther, Thistle, Milne, Henderson, Zirkle, Tedrow, Briix, and Blythe, my great-grandparents' names. My husband's family names include Doan, Corder, Dokken, Tangen, Goff, Allen and Peterson. Please send corrections/ updates; I want things to be accurate.
My grandmother, Wanda Zirkle Jilka, and great-aunt, Veda Zirkle Vickery, compiled a book commonly referred to as "The Red Book," "Zirkle Branches 1725-1978, Yesteryears and Yesterdays." There are several copies for sale if anyone is interested. It mainly outlines the history of two Zirkle/Zerkel branches which left VA, went to OH, then settled in Richland, Shawnee Co, KS.

"A Visit to the Gravesite"
Dear Ancestor, Your Tombstone stands among the rest, Neglected and alone. The name and dates are chiseled here, On polished marbled stone. It reaches out to all who care, Though it is too late to mourn. You do not know that I exist, You died and I was born. Yet each of us are cells of you, In flesh, in blood, and bone. The place you filled so many years ago, I wonder if you could have known, Would spread among the ones you left In all the seeds you've sown. I wonder if you lived and loved? I wonder if you ever knew? That someday I would find you in this spot, And come to visit you?
I have added a grave photos for Stella (as she was known) and here is some information about her:
Estella May Corbett was the wife of David Maxwell whom she married two weeks before her death on the 2nd of January 1891 in Five Islands, NS.
She was the illegitimate daughter of Martha Jane Corbett born in Five Islands on the 22nd of October 1873. Stella was adopted and raised by relatives Archibald and Elizabeth Corbett.
Maplewood Memorial Lawn Cemetery Thanks Becky for getting back to me. I just wanted to add more information on those buried there. If you come up with any ideas let me know. I am always looking for something to do.
I have made the additions to the memorial of Lois Hamilton as you suggested. However, I did not remove the day of birth and day of death since they are shown on her headstone.
If you are family to Lois, would you like me to transfer the management of her memorial to you?
Jimmy Mosher Thanks for the information on above--it has been added to his site. Tell your Dad thanks. Richard. P.S. I like info like this on my sites.
RE: Garden of the Gods I am glad you like the photo. The wife and kids in the back seat don't looked thrilled about their vacation. They always make me laugh.
