Joanne Elizabeth Voitus has been called by our Lord to her heavenly home. The daughter of Evelyn Kubrich of Garland, TX and Roy Achimon of Arlington, TX. Joanne was born in Durant, OK on August 1, 1950 and graduated from Texas Womens University. Joanne was a devoted wife, and a loving mother and "Nana". She passed away at Duke University Hospital in Durham, NC on Monday, July 30, 2007 following a long illness. She is survived by her husband, Edward C. Voitus of Clemmons, NC; their son, Joshua A. Voitus, a Charlotte Diocese seminarian studying at Mount St. Mary's Seminary in Emmitsburg, MD; their daughter, Kristine R. Grogan and husband Joseph of Winston-Salem; their daughter, Karen P. Cody and husband Joseph and grandchildren: John-Paul, Kara and Maria of Hickory, NC; her mother, Evelyn Kubrich; her father, Roy Achimon; her sister, Charlotte Heafer and husband, Arthur and family, of Crandall, TX; her sister, Stephanie West and husband, Ted and family of Trophy Club Estates, TX; her brother, Roger Achimon of Quinlan, TX, and many other relatives and friends in North Carolina, Texas, Ohio and Oklahoma. On Thursday, August 2, a Rosary will be said at 6:00 p.m. in the chapel at Salem Funeral Home, 120 S. Main Street, Winston-Salem with visitation to follow in the chapel from 7-10:00 p.m. and the Requium Mass will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 3, at Holy Family Roman Catholic Church on Kinnamon Road in Clemmons. The internment will take place in Salisbury, NC. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations be sent to The Vocations Department, Diocese of Charlotte, 1123 S.
