I was saddened to find your account when I was surfing the web.Back in 1961,I was one of the Scottish soldiers who accompanied her and Liv and Miggs Pomeroy across the Sahara.Catherine was truly a lovely lady,tackling quite a tough expedition when she was nearly 50.She and the Pomeroys treated us as equal members of the team,for which I will always be grateful.
Although it is 51 years ago,the memories of driving 4000 miles over sand and rock in her company are still fresh.I just wish that I had more photos of the trip.
Perhaps you could convey my belated condolencies to those she has left behind.

i was a friend of ewan's since third grade in santa fe, and i spent an awful lot of time with him in lake oswego, with kiki, and had high hopes that we would travel together to far reaches....japan and for him come visit me in australia and new zealand.
i'm still trying piece together what happened two years on now...

She and I were friends when she ran away we went to school together at James Monroe, a few times a year I have done searches to try and find her...I feel devastated to find her here, I always hoped she would just show up or something better then this..Do you know how she died? Marie I knew ewan and was his neighbor several years ago. I was planning a trip to Portland looked him up to find this sad news of his passing. Did an illness take him?
