Alfred G. Harris, 78, of Berkeley, passed away Thursday, Jan. 22, 2009. He was born in Newark and lived in Roselle before moving to Berkeley in 1995. Mr. Harris was a vocational education instructor at Rahway State Prison for 11 years until his retirement in 1985. Prior to that, he was a bricklayer with BAC Local #4, Morristown for 19 years. Mr. Harris was a communicant of St. Maximilian Kolbe Roman Catholic Church, Berkeley; Army veteran of the Korean War; a member of the V.F.W., Berkeley, and the Knights of Columbus, Roselle. He attended Seton Hall University, South Orange.
He was predeceased by his son, Kenneth Michael Harris. Mr. Harris is survived by his wife of 53 years and his four children and four brothers. He was also grandfather of 11 grandchildren.
