Lars (Lauritz) Johansen was born 15 Oct 1794 in Denmark, the son of Johan Conrad Christiansen and Zidsel (Sidsel) Lauritsen. He married Anna Margrethe Sorensen. They had five sons and two daughters: Soren, Johannes (John), Zidsel Christena (Cecilia Kjerstine), Christian Grejs, Christian John, Lauritz, Maren (Mary). Because of patronymics their children all had the last name of Larsen . Their older sons joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and the rest of the family soon joined. The sons helped set up the Danish Mission and served missions. They prepared to join the Saints in America. Lars, Anna Margrethe, sons Soren and Christian John, daughters Cecelia Kjersten and Mary left Denmark on the steamship "Slesvig" for Liverpool, England 22 Dec 1853. They left Liverpool 28 Jan 1854 on the ship "Benjamin Adams." Their son Soren met Maria Fredericksen onboard ship and they were married mid-ocean early in March 1854. They arrived in New Orleans 22 March 1854. They took a steamboat up the Mississippi to St. Louis. They joined the pioneer company led by H.P Olsen to cross the plains and mountains arriving in Salt Lake City 5 Oct 1854. They settled in West Weber. Brigham Young called them to settle in Sanpete County. In 1860 the moved to Spring Town, later called Spring City. They had a farm. Lars was a high priest and the family were all active in the church. His wife died 15 April 1874 and Lars died 9 Dec 1884 in Spring City.
