She was born in East Everett Washington on May 10, 1915 and graduated
from Arlington High School in 1935.
Jo leaves behind her husband of 66 years, Earl, whom she married
in 1935; her son, Wesley and his wife Catherine, who live in
Sacramento, CA; her daughter, Joann and her husband Richard,
who live in Federal Way; and her son, Gordon and his wife Janet,
who live in Des Moines, WA. She also leaves behind nine
grandchildren, Michael, Gerald, Cheryl, Richard, Randall, Rodwin,
Ryan, Kimberly and Leisha; 18 great-grandchildren; and numerous
nieces and nephews.
Jo had a varied career as a cook for the Everett School District, as
the owner and operator of a small nursery specializing in
rhododendrons and azaleas, and Jo's Arts and Crafts, specializing
in unique floral arrangements. She was a master gardener for 12
years, taking extension courses from Washington State University
in horticulture.
Jo was active in three Lutheran churches: Central Lutheran in
Everett where she taught Sunday School for 35 years, was
President of the Alter Guild for 4 years, participated in the Joy
Program and transported convalescent adults for hospital
treatments; Word of Life Lutheran Bretheran in Marysville; and
most recently, Atonement Free Lutheran in Arlington.
There will be a short graveside service at the Cypress Lawn
Cemetery, 1615 SE Everett Mall Way, Everett, at 1:15 p.m. on
Monday, December 3, 2001, followed by a 2:30 p.m. memorial
service at Atonement Free Lutheran Church.
Memorials can be made to either Atonement Free Lutheran
