She was born May 22, 1922, in Sylvatus, Va., daughter of the late Joe and Nannie Shockley Dalton. Polly was a homemaker, a loving wife, a mother, a grandmother and a charter member of Ball Road Baptist Church, Knoxville.
She married Edsel F. Beasley on May 9, 1940, in Wytheville, Va., and he preceded her in death on Dec. 19, 1993. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Clyde Dalton.
Polly is survived by a daughter, Linda (David) Nibert of Gallipolis; a son, Gary Beasley of Knoxville; two grandchildren, Paul (Paula) Stephens of Parkersburg, W.Va., and Kelly Porter of Vinton; nine great-grandchildren: Tara and Joey Stephens, Antonia (Troy) Harden, James, Jon and Stephen Porter, Isabella Moore, Shelby Stephens, Christian Nibert; two great great grandchildren, Trenton Rader and Alexandria Harden; four sisters, Myrtle Dalton, Louise Rice, Lola Ruth Dalton, and Edith (Curry) Mitchell.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 17, 2008, in the Weaver Funeral Home, 5815 Western Ave., Knoxville. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Memorial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m.
Local arrangements are under the direction of the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Vinton.
