Pfc. Michael Maurice Young, 23, of Huntsville, Alabama, formerly of White Heath; died on Sunday August 2, 1970, of an apparent heart attack. He was born in Monticello, son of Maurice "Bill" and Marian Martin Young, of White Heath. He married Renee Wittig, Sept. 22, 1969 in Monticello. He leaves his parents, widow, son Todd Michael, at home; sister Mrs. Dennis (Carol) Hammerschmidt, Monticello, brother Richard at home; Services are to be held at the Mackey Funeral Home, the arrangements are incomplete.
Pfc. Young was a member of the Monticello United Methodist Church and church choir director. He was a graduate of Monticello High School and the University of Illinois. As a member of the University of Illinois glee club, he traveled with the Club to Europe in 1969. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge of Monticello and belonged to the Phi Kappa Tau fraternity.
