He served in the United States Navy and worked in the Oilfield in Colorado, Utah, and Wyoming. He retired in 1986 and moved back to London, where he resided with his wife of 63 years, Bonnie J. Marshall Rye.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Charles W. and Pauline Higby Rye; two brothers, Roland and Bobby Joe Rye; and a sister, Velma John.
He is survived by his wife, Bonnie; two sons: James Earl Rye (Kay, of Atkins, Arkansas and Ronald Rye (Rosemarie, of Gillette, Wyoming; a daughter, Paula Sue Spry (David, of Wagoner, Oklahoma; four grandchildren: Kara Masters (Josh, of Dover, Arkansas; Greg Rye (Tammy, of Atkins; Jeffrey Rye of Gillette, Wyoming; and Courtney Walker (Lance, of Gillette, Wyoming; and three great-grandchildren, Jacob Masters and Andrew Masters of Dover and Abigail Rye of Atkins.
Visitation will be held 3-5 p.m., Sunday, January 22, 2017, at Hardwicke Funeral Home Chapel in Clarksville, Arkansas.
A Graveside Service will be held 3:00 p.m., Monday, January 23, 2017 at Madden Cemetery in London, Arkansas with Reverend Mark Simmons officiating.
Pallbearers will be Greg Rye, Jeffrey Rye, Lance Walker, Josh Masters, and Bill Ross. Honorary Pallbearers will be Jacob Masters, Andrew Masters, and Abigail Rye.
