Mrs. Valsvik, 91, Rochester, Dies
Mrs. Mary Valsvik, 91, of 19 6th St. NW, died today in the Seminary Rest Home in Red Wing where she had been a patient for about six years. She had been ill six months.
She was born April 18, 1875, at Sargeant, Minn., moved to Hayfield after her husband, Ole, died in 1901 and then moved to Rochester in 1915.
She was the former Mary Giere. She was married in the West St. Olaf Lutheran Church near Rock Dell in the mid-1890s.
She is survived by a son, Joseph of Rochester; a sister, Mrs. Fred L. Koenig of Rochester; a brother, Martin Giere of Menomonie, Wis.; two grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.
Prayer service will be at the Vine Funeral Home at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday and funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. in the Zumbro Lutheran Church. The Rev. John P. Trelstad will officiate and burial will be in Grandview Memorial Gardens.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 9 a.m. Sunday.
