Born in Tower City, Sept. 13, 1921, she was a daughter of the late Howard and Christina A. Long Trautman.
Jane was a graduate of the former Tower City High School.
She was a Navy veteran of World War II. While in the Navy, Jane was with the Navy Nurse Corp and became a registered nurse.
She worked as a registered nurse for the former AMP Inc., Williamstown.
Jane was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, where she was the first woman to serve on the board. She also was a member of the church choir. She was a former den mother for the Williamstown Cub Scouts.
Jane's life revolved around her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Smith, in 2001; a son, Jeffrey Smith, in 1989; three sisters, Harriett Reiner, Anna Mae Trautman and Betty Otto; a brother, Karl Trautman.
Surviving are children, John V. Smith (Trish), Florida, Karl M. Smith (Candy), North Carolina, and Susan J. Snyder (Rick), Williamstown; a daughter-in-law, Perla Abitanto, Lake Wynonah; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment with military honors will be held in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Williamstown. The family would like to thank Polk Personal Care Home and the Tremont Health and Rehabilitation Center for the excellent and loving care they have given Jane during her many years with Alzheimer's disease.
