Edwin Ray Whidby, of Sugar Hill, GA passed away Wednesday, November 25, 2015. He was preceded in death by: parents, Hubert and Lorene Whidby, brothers, Hubert Whidby Jr., and Donald “Duck” Whidby. He is survived by his wife of fifty-six years, Mary Stancil Whidby, Sugar Hill, GA; daughter and son in-law, Gina and Terry Paul, Buford, GA; granddaughter, Lanier Paul, Buford, GA; sister and brother in-law, Doris and Stanley Mays, Flowery Branch, GA; brother, Herman Whidby, Sugar Hill, GA; sister in-law, Joann Lee, Norcross, GA; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Mr. Whidby was born September 5, 1934 in Buford, GA. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marines and a graduate of Buford High School. He lettered in four sports, football, baseball, basketball and track. He was inducted in Hall of Buford Sports Hall of Fame in 2008. He was a former baseball, softball, basketball and football coach. He was retired from State Farm Insurance Company after 35 years as an attorney negotiator. He was past president of Buford Booster Club and past president Gwinnett Youth Football League. Mr. Whidby was the 1st appointed Judge for the City of Sugar Hill. He was a former Sunday school teacher and served in many capacities of the church. He was of the Methodist faith. He also was a volunteer for Gwinnett County Juvenile Association
