Robert George Rebhuhn was born on a farm near Laurens, Iowa, on July 5, 1929, to Adolf and Anna (Werner) Rebhuhn. He was baptized at the St. Peter Lutheran Church in Pocahontas. In 1938, he moved with his parents to a farm southwest of Albert City. He was confirmed at St. John Lutheran Church of rural Albert City. Robert was a graduate of the Albert City High School.

Robert started farming with his father in1947 until he was drafted into the United States Army in 1951.

On February 4, 1951, Robert was united in marriage to Ruth Wenger and this union was blessed with four sons: Michael Robert, Steven Paul, Mark Carl, and Perry Richard. Rob was stationed in Colorado while serving his country. Following his honorable discharge in 1953, he and Ruth returned home to Albert City and took over his father’s farming operation. He loved working the ground, planting, and harvesting his crops. Even after he retired, he enjoyed helping Mike in the field. Rob was invaluable to Mike and Mark by running parts and supplies. Rob shared his musical talents by singing at numerous weddings and funerals throughout the years. He was always available to help with babysitting the grandchildren and great grandchildren. He loved to sit and read to the children. For many years, Rob and Ruth served coffee at the Pleasant View Nursing Home in Albert City every Sunday afternoon. They also enjoyed their annual trip to Florida with Ruth’s brother, John, where they visited Paul Wenger. A favorite pastime of Rob’s was hunting with his family and friends. Rob was a faithful member of the St. John Lutheran Church.

Rob’s life will always be honored and cherished by his family which include his wife, Ruth of Albert City; his sons: Mike (Deb) Rebhuhn of Albert City; Steve (Karen) Rebhuhn of Farmington, Minnesota; Mark (Terri) Rebhuhn of Marathon, Iowa; Perry (Dana) Rebhuhn of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; his grandchildren: Julie (Steve) Waldstein of Sheldon, Iowa; Wendy Rebhuhn (Jimmy Temple) of Newell, Iowa; Brian Rebhuhn of Rembrandt, Iowa; Becky (Adrian) Rivero of Atlanta, Georgia; Holly Boyd of Lauren, Iowa; Michaela Boyd (Nick Simmons) of Rembrandt, Iowa; Robert Rebhuhn of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; and Rachel Rebhuhn of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; 13 great grandchildren and step great grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces; nephews; other extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers: Paul, August, and Ray.
