Mary Ellen "Myrt" Hope, 83, of Greeneville, passed away Friday, February 27, 2015, at Laughlin Healthcare Center.

She was born June 30, 1931, to the late Thurmon and Maggie Smith Long. A daughter born to Christian parents, she was introduced to and accepted Jesus Christ at a young age establishing strong Christian values and strong work ethics.

She was married to the late A. D. Hope, Jr. March, 1966, and they attended First Church of God as long as his health allowed. After his death in March, 2002, she attended Fellowship Baptist Church as long as her health permitted.

Mary retired from Greene Valley Developmental Center and pursued her many interests and talents both inside the home and yard work. A. D. Jr. was an Army veteran and they became active members of Auxiliary Post 64. After his death, she continued to attend and enjoy the fellowship of that group.

While A. D. and Myrt suffered the loss of their only infant son, they maintained a keen interest and became a part of the life of their many nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews. They were quick to re-enforce the strong Christian values and many life skills taught by the respective parents.

Mary is survived by a brother, Bill Long; four sisters and a brother-in-law, Elsie Wilds, Ruby Collier, Maxine Harmon, Carol and Roger Cutshall; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews; several great great nieces and great great nephews and many cousins.

The funeral service will be held at 4 pm Sunday, March 1, 2015, in the Kiser-Rose Hill Chapel with Rev. Danny Ellis officiating. Interment will follow at GreeneLawn Memory Gardens.

Pallbearers will be nephews, Parker Wilds, David Hensley, Wallace Cogdell, Eli Cutshall, Brent Seaton and John Ray. Members of Fellowship Baptist Church and members of Auxiliary Post 64 will serve as honorary pallbearers.

The family wished to extend a special thank you to the Dr. E. Brad Strange, the staff of Laughlin Memorial Hospital, Laughlin Healthcare Center and Morning Pointe of Greeneville and to friends and neighbors for the many prayers and concerns offered.

The family will receive friends 2-4 pm Sunday preceding the funeral service at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Fellowship Baptist Church or the Mission of the donor's choice.
