Richard Robinson was born in a farmhouse in Whigham, Georgia, August 10, 1938 to Rufus Hill Robinson, Sr., and Martha Vaughn Robinson. He was one of six brothers. He attended LaGrange College for one year before joining the US Army during peacetime after the Korean War, serving three years. After returning to civilian life, he graduated from the University of Georgia twice with a Bachelors and Masters in Accounting. He practiced as an accountant for two large firms before becoming an executive with Snapper Power for twenty years, ending his time there as President and CEO. After Snapper, he founded Rockdale Transport Services, Inc., in 1993 in the county of his birth. He worked in that company until the day he died.

Richard was an active Christian all his life. He planned to become a minister for a time, but instead spent more than forty years as a Sunday School teacher in the various Methodist Churches to which he belonged throughout his life. He served on various committees as well as Methodist Men's President. All who knew him well knew he loved his savior.

Richard was probably best known for his sense of humor, his passion for learning, and his deep love for his family. In fifty years of marriage, he and his wife Lyn had three children and seven grandchildren. His eldest son, Rich, preceded him in death, along with three brothers and both of his parents.
