Visitation will be one hour prior to the services Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Alango Cemetery in Alango.
He died Wednesday, November 10, 1999, at Leisure Hills Health Care Center in Hibbing. He was born Sept. 30, 1905, in Gloucester, Mass., the son of Matt and Aliina (Hednisma) Hernesman.
He married Inez Forsman on Oct. 14, 1931, in Chisholm and the couple made their home in Hibbing. He was employed as a brakeman at U.S. Steel, retiring in 1963. He was a member of United Steelworkers Union.
Survivors include his wife, Inez; a son, Melvin (Phyllis) Hernesman of Hermantown, Minn.; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, Mathew in 1979; two brothers; two sisters; and his parents.
Arrangements are under the direction of Range Funeral Home in Hibbing.
